Update: Election 2020
ACT Pliqué
What a way to kick off the presidential election! For the past three months we’ve had a steady and growing group of makers dedicated to reaching our goal of 500 yard signs+!
Beginning November 2019, the one year election count down , we received the fantastic news that we could meet at UnDiscovered in Wilkinsburg 10 am - 2 pm the first Saturday of every month in a new community arts space.
We’ll meet exclusively in Wilkinsburg through April. Then beginning in May we’ll be based out of Contemporary Craft in their new home in Lawrenceville details to follow. But given the importance of this election we will continue in Wilkinsburg and add other venues schedule TBA.
What have we made so far? After starting from scratch we are on our way to completing the first 50 Vote! Yard signs. Our stash of letters has grown steadily and we began our assembly line production in January. Special to this month, we’re invited to give a workshop at Duquesne University - the students will make their own signs for campus! More on that in another post.
So join us our next meet-up is February 1st 10 am - 2 pm 319 South Trenton Ave. No experience necessary, you can trace and/or cut letters or pin and design signs. Have sewing machine experience? You can appliqué letters to the signs, bring your own machine (zig zag a must) or use one on site. Make a sign/take a sign, or make some for your neighborhood! Help remind everyone to Vote!
